The protection on this top is great but... this particular style runs small. My son has the medium and it runs too tight under the armpit. He really needed to wear it to a game because his previous padded compressionm top tore. The old top and this new one are both by McDavid and BOTH are size Med. However, this style with the mesh runs much smaller than the non mesh compression padded top. The non mesh top may run too big perhaps but...this style is really tight under the armpit. Go a size up or order the previous style with more room and flexibility.
