After being a ski coach for two winters in Vermont and living in Maine for 6 years, I feel that I am very qualified to evaluate gloves! In my experience, Black Diamond gloves are always excellent quality, I often prefer them to gloves made by other manufactures. These gloves are warm without being too thick. You maintain dexterity. They are easy to put on and they are definately waterproof. I wore them shoveling out my car just a few days ago and despite being in direct contact to plenty of snow, my hands stayed totally dry. I like the short cuff design as I usually prefer to pull my jacket cuff over the glove. These work well for that style of wear. I really can't recommend these enough. They are well made and I don't feel like the price is too high considering the quality you get.

If you are a skier and you like the marker spring glove you will like these as well. The style and fit are similar, these might conform less to your hand over time, but you get waterproof and a little more warmth.
