Product Description
Great value! The unisex Powderidge Path is equipped for gentle strolls on trails in flat to rolling terrain.Powderridge Path Snow Shoes, Blue , 30-Inch Review
I received these snow shoes a couple of weeks ago and did not think I would have another opportunity to try them this season, but then it snowed again, so here is a (preliminary) review.Because this is my first set and I have never been on snow shoes before, I can't compare, but I did have some thoughts while shoeing around the fields with about 5 inches of fresh snow, and that's what I want to share.
5 inches of snow is not enough to really test if they can carry my weight. This will have to wait until next year. I got the long ones (30 inches) and weigh about 200 lbs. This is well within the specified range for other models. The vendor did not include this information for these show shoes, but I don't expect an issue there.
The product description states "for gentle strolls on trails in flat to rolling terrain". I would second that. They are not made for heavy exercise or steep terrain. I walked up a little hill and traction was fine uphill, but coming down about 50 feet on the other side was a bit treacherous. They have a tendency to start sliding foward when on a decline.
The buckles are stiff in the cold and difficult to operate. One shoe came off at some point and I had to work hard to tighten the buckles so that this did not happen again.
I purchased these snow shoes because I wanted to run with them. I am not sure they will work out. I made a few faster steps and the tail ends bounced up and down and interfered quite a bit with the motion of my legs. That, together with the poor traction on downhill trails, and the "light use" (= cheap) construction, will make this unlikely. For walking the dog across the fields they will be fine.
